My Wedding Adventure The details of planning my Ottawa wedding, vendor suggestions, DIY projects, and other helpful wedding information I picked up along the way

Who Is This Chick?

My name is Ashley,  and I just successfully planned and executed my wedding on a shoe-string budget. As far as I’m concerned, it was the perfect wedding. Feel free to check out the pictures.

If you are planning a wedding on a budget (and I mean a real budget, $50 000 may “technically” be a budget….and I don’t mean to be rude, but unless you’re looking for a laugh, this just isn’t the site for you), or are just looking for something a little different, then you are in the right place!

I started this site as a way to help get me through the process of planning. Sometimes it was a way to organize my thoughts, sometimes a place to vent about wedding stress, and always a way to share the process with friends, family, and anyone else who might find it helpful and or amusing.

I had so much fun planning my own wedding that I decided to keep the site going. I didn’t find a great resource for Ottawa during my planning process, but during my own search I came across a lot of great places in the city that I’d never heard of. If by sharing them I can help out another frazzled bride, then I have done my job :)

In My Wedding you will find all of the archived posts from my planning process. I’ve heard it’s an interesting read :)

Vendors I Recommend are just that. Either from my own wedding, or others I’ve attended. All with an honest seal of approval.

There was A LOT of do-it-yourself involved in the planning of my wedding, from decorations to cake toppers and stand, to bouquets, we did it all!  DIY Projects puts some of them on display with helpful tutorials in case you would like to try something similar.

I live in Ottawa, so most of my vendors will be based here. General wedding ideas aren’t picky about geography though (thank goodness!), so there should be something here for anyone planning a wedding. I hope you find this site helpful, and if there is anything about planning a wedding in Ottawa that you would like to know but isn’t on the site please feel free to drop me a line!
Also, be sure to use the search tool, because I may have touched on something briefly in a post with a completely different title.

Glad to see my older sister hasn’t quite figured everything out yet…its actually quite comforting haha. (Which I mean in the nicest “neither have I” way possible). I just finished my last class today, have had a few pitchers and am still not ready to take on real life.
Just know that I have complete faith in your ability to maintain your sanity and still come out looking good.
